Towards the end of 2025, the Shine the Light Fund had the honor of helping a family whose home was in urgent need of a new roof. This wasn’t just any project- it was a chance to lift a heavy burden off a family who had been giving everything they had just to get by.

The family had been working long hours and managing unexpected home repairs that had stretched their budget to the limit. Their HVAC system had recently failed, essential repairs were piling up, and the roof over their heads was deteriorating fast. Water damage had caused OSB rot, shingles were badly worn with significant granule loss, and past patch repairs were no longer holding. Waiting any longer wasn’t safe, for the home or for the family living there.

Replacing the roof themselves simply wasn’t possible. Every extra dollar went toward keeping the home livable and maintaining essential systems. Even with all their effort, the roof problem had grown beyond their means.

That’s where the Shine the Light Fund stepped in. With the fund, we were able to replace the roof completely- turning a source of stress into safety and peace of mind. Their home is now secure, the family is protected, and one major worry has been lifted just in time for winter. The transformation is clear in the before, during, and after photos, while the family’s privacy remains fully protected.

This first project was more than a roof- it was a real-life example of why the Shine the Light Fund exists: to shine a light on families in need when circumstances leave them with no other options. By the end of 2025, we had completed our first roof giveaway. In 2026, our goal is to double that impact. This is just the beginning of our commitment to support families and protect homes in our community.
