What Missing or Lifted Shingles Can Tell You About Your Roof
Updated: Oct 6
Missing or lifted shingles are one of the easier roofing problems to notice from the ground, but wind damage isn't always as obvious as shingles scattered across the yard.
You may notice a gap, a shingle that looks slightly raised, or an area that simply doesn't look consistent with the rest of your roof.
One damaged shingle does not automatically mean you need a new roof. The age of the roof, extent of the damage, condition of the surrounding shingles, and whether the damage has left the roof vulnerable to water all matter.
If something looks different after a wind event, take a photo from the ground and have it evaluated rather than climbing onto the roof yourself.
A professional inspection can help determine whether you're looking at a small repair, something to monitor, or a larger issue.
